JUNIA, much more than a
prestigious engineering school
For more than 140 years, JUNIA has been training engineers and professionals who can understand the changes taking place in the world and take concrete action to address them.
JUNIA, the engineering school that trains talented individuals ready to make a difference in tomorrow's world
Energy, industry, digital technology, agriculture, food, and the environment: our educational programs, research, and partnerships with businesses help develop solutions that benefit local communities and society.
Today, JUNIA brings together four complementary programs—HEI, ISEN, ISA, and XP—and carries out its educational, research, and support activities across three campuses in France: Lille, Châteauroux, and Bordeaux.
Explore our training programs
For more than 140 years, JUNIA has evolved alongside the world’s major transformations. Our goal is to train engineers who can bridge the gap between science, technology, and real-world challenges to devise practical solutions that benefit businesses, regions, and society.
JUNIA by the Numbers
Together with its students, faculty members, laboratories, and partners, JUNIA works every day to train talented individuals and develop solutions that address the major challenges of our time. From education to research, including innovation and partnerships with businesses, JUNIA applies its expertise to support major societal transitions.
An engineering school built to make a difference
The history of JUNIA began in 1885 with the founding of HEI (Hautes Études d'Ingénieurs), which was established in response to the Industrial Revolution. Over the decades, new programs have expanded on this shared vision: ISEN (Institut Supérieur de l'Électronique et du Numérique) to support the digital revolution, ISA (Institut Supérieur de l'Agriculture) to address challenges in the life sciences, and then XP to support the evolution of skills and professions.
Today, these programs are brought together under one school: JUNIA.
A school that shares a common conviction: science and technology truly come into their own when they address the concrete needs of businesses and regions.
Our areas of research
A Little History
Three campuses, one shared commitment to serving local communities
Lille
JUNIA's historic campus and the heart of its educational, research, and innovation activities
Châteauroux
A campus specializing in engineering apprenticeship programs, particularly in the fields of industrial engineering, aeronautics, and mechatronics
Bordeaux
A campus focused on digital technology, smart systems, and new skills
"A JUNIA prep course near you"
Because access to engineering programs should not depend on where a student lives, JUNIA is developing preparatory classes and partner programs that allow students to begin their studies as close to home as possible.
Training to Understand and Take Action
At JUNIA, the curriculum combines scientific rigor, experimentation, projects, immersion in the business world, and an international perspective.
Students learn to apply their knowledge to address real-world challenges related to environmental, energy, digital, agricultural, and societal transitions.
From the humanities to engineering, each program aims to develop technical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Using Research as a Catalyst for Change
Research plays a central role in JUNIA’s mission.
Conducted in our laboratories and technology platforms, our research focuses on major challenges related to energy, digital technology, industry, agriculture, food, and the environment.
This research directly informs our educational programs, as well as the projects we develop in partnership with businesses and local communities.
From laboratories to demonstration facilities, and from scientific publications to field experiments, it helps transform knowledge into concrete solutions.
Supporting companies through their transitions
JUNIA offers its expertise to businesses, organizations, and local governments.
Continuing education, work-study programs, recruitment, collaborative research, scientific and technical services, and access to specialized equipment: our teams support economic stakeholders in their projects and growth.
This close connection to the field is at the heart of the JUNIA model. It fosters meaningful collaborations, drives innovation, and meets the needs of businesses in their local communities.
Why Choose JUNIA?
A School Dedicated to the Public Good
JUNIA is a private higher education institution serving the public interest (EESPIG). Its nonprofit model ensures that resources are reinvested in education, research, and student support.
A Strong International Presence
Study abroad opportunities, dual degree programs, English-language degree programs, and a network of 340 partner universities allow each student to build an international experience tailored to their goals.
An Approach to Education Grounded in Reality
Projects, internships, work-study programs, research, and partnerships with companies: at JUNIA, students learn by doing, experimenting, and developing practical solutions while engaging with real-world situations.
The Humanities at the Heart of the Program
Because our graduates make a difference in society, the humanities and social sciences play an important role in all of our programs.
A school supported by a unique ecosystem
Students, learners, alumni, faculty members, partner companies, associations, local governments, and regional stakeholders all contribute every day to bringing JUNIA to life. This community is supported by a network of more than 36,000 alumni in France and around the world.
As a member of the Catholic University of Lille, JUNIA is part of one of Europe’s largest private university systems. This affiliation allows students to benefit from a rich academic environment, a dynamic campus life, and numerous opportunities for collaboration across disciplines, programs, and institutions.
All contribute to a shared ambition: to bring together knowledge, technology, and talent to devise solutions that address the major challenges of our time.
