Feed, Preserve, Process

The ISA program trains engineers to make a difference in agricultural, food, and environmental systems. The program combines scientific expertise, a hands-on approach, and a commitment to addressing the challenges of ecological, agricultural, and food transitions.

To train engineers capable of addressing major agricultural, food, and environmental challenges: that is the goal of the ISA program.

Every day, we prepare our students to understand the complexity of life and to take action in a world facing challenges related to climate change, resource conservation, and food security. Through an education that bridges science, fieldwork, industry, and research, they develop the skills needed to devise sustainable solutions.

In this way, we support young people who are passionate about agriculture, food, the landscape, the environment, and ecology—and who want to make a tangible contribution to feeding the world while preserving the planet.

Understanding Living Organisms

From Production to Preservation

The ISA (Institut Supérieur d'Agriculture) program combines biological and agronomic sciences, economics, management, and the humanities to understand agricultural, environmental, and food systems.

Students gradually build their academic path, choosing from agriculture, agribusiness, the environment (CSR, eco-design, ecosystem conservation), or cross-functional roles such as marketing and finance—all of which are closely linked to these sectors.

The program includes internships, projects, and international experience, and can be pursued through a work-study program at certain points in the program. A specialized landscape architecture track is also offered, exclusively through the work-study program.

More than 60 years of excellence in the life sciences

1963

The Higher Institute of Agriculture is established in Lille

1993

The landscape architecture program—formerly ITIAPE—is launched

2004

The food processing facility—a mini-factory at the heart of the school—is inaugurated

2011

ISA is ISO 14001-certified, a standard that highlights the measures the institution has implemented to reduce its environmental impact

2012

The HEI, ISA, and ISEN schools are joining forces to form the HEI ISA ISEN Group

2020

The HEI ISA ISEN Group is becoming JUNIA; ISA programs and degrees will continue to be offered at the JUNIA engineering school

Partner Farms

Learning on the Job

The ISA program relies on a network of partner farms to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and real-world conditions:

  • The Agropôle de Lorgies (62) experimental crop production farm;
  • The Carré Group’s High-Performance Agroecology Pilot Farm in Gouy-sous-Bellone (62);
  • The Quatre Vents livestock and food processing farm in Roncq (59);
  • The mixed-cropping and livestock farm at the Institut de Genech in Genech (59).

Students observe, experiment with, and analyze a variety of agricultural systems, but these experiences are not limited to agricultural production. They provide insight into broader systems: resource management, environmental impacts, economic models, and changes in supply chains.

Our Campuses

A campus where life takes shape

An agri-food hall, a sensory analysis lab, a professional kitchen, plant experimentation areas… All of these facilities bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, preparing students for careers in the life sciences.
