The first three years at JUNIA are an undergraduate study program and part of an integrated preparatory course designed to equip students with the fundamental skills they need to succeed in JUNIA’s Master of Science and Engineering programs.
To begin, Years 1 and 2 of the science and engineering programs give students core scientific and technical knowledge in fundamental sciences. Students explore key concepts of engineering sciences, mathematics and economics while learning essential foreign language and interpersonal skills. In their third year, students start applying these fundamentals in one of our 40 fields of specialisation within the disciplines of information technology and computer science, agriculture and life sciences, and general engineering.

JUNIA graduate programs are taught in French, English or a combination of both languages. All programs are open to exchange students from our partner universities.
The key to JUNIA’s pedagogical approach is activating students’ ability to connect their theoretical knowledge with real world applications. Through project-based, hands-on learning, JUNIA graduates grasp the big picture as well as the technical details.

All of JUNIA’s programs combine both theoretical teaching and practical work. Our teaching methods are based on active learning in order to match the reality of the professional sector, allowing our graduates to enter the job market quickly and efficiently. The active learning approach is based on practical work in labs, case studies, industrial projects, internships in companies, field visits and more.
In every program, professional immersions (internships and industrial projects) are compulsory and fully integrated into the curriculum. Thanks to this hands-on approach, our students are professionally operational even before graduation from JUNIA. In addition, our programs include project management and intercultural activities to help you develop your abilities to work in a multicultural team and reinforce interdisciplinary skills.
Our diverse course content prepares students for a wide-range of professional opportunities, and working in both English and French means JUNIA graduates are ready to take on the global job market.
JUNIA uses the European Credit Transfer System to facilitate the transfer of credits and ensure the validity of learning outcomes according to the European system. In the ECTS, a full semester consists of 30 credits and a full year of study is 60 credits. JUNIA’s credit and grading system is fully compatible with the ECTS.
In addition to a numerical mark, students are given a rank-based grade of their academic performance relative to all students validating the course credits. A student’s general average is calculated on the totality of all marks obtained, including teaching units not validated.
Rank-based grade | Distribution among students within course |
---|---|
Rank-based grade A | Distribution among students within course Top 10% of students who validated the course credits |
Rank-based grade B | Distribution among students within course Next 25% of students who validated the course credits |
Rank-based grade C | Distribution among students within course Next 30% of students who validated the course credits |
Rank-based grade D | Distribution among students within course Next 25% of students who validated the course credits |
Rank-based grade E | Distribution among students within course Remaining 10% of students who validated the course credits |
Rank-based grade FX | Distribution among students within course Incomplete: more work required to validate course credits |
Rank-based grade F | Distribution among students within course Fail: considerable work required to validate course credits |
Rank-based grade NS | Distribution among students within course The size of the group doesn’t allow for the grade to be calculated. The number of students must be more than or equal to 30. The quality of the work provided is therefore indicated solely by the numerical mark out of 20. |
Numerical mark out of 20 | |
---|---|
Numerical mark out of 20 > 18 | Excellent |
Numerical mark out of 20 15-18 | Very Good |
Numerical mark out of 20 12-15 | Good |
Numerical mark out of 20 10-12 | Average |
Numerical mark out of 20 8-10 | Satisfactory |
