Course objectives

The goal of this training is to help students become rigorous technicians who know laboratory techniques and master modeling and simulation software and computer programming, but also good communicators who will know how to manage a team.

The BioNanotech engineers seek to improve, at the molecular scale, current tools in the fields of health, science, technology and the environment. They work on the development of processes using nanotechnologies, identifying new possibilities, drafting specifications and ensuring the implementation of a production chain.

Project-based learning

Semester-long team projects are an integral part of the curriculum. One day per week is dedicated to group projects in collaboration with a professional expert, partner company, or research institute and supervised by a JUNIA ISEN faculty member.

Examples of projects:

  • Design of a pressure sensitive Lab-on-Chip for drug screening
  • Radiofrequency Switches modeling for 5G and beyond…
  • Optical modeling of organic solar cells
  • Modeling and study of a thermal characterization method
  • Study of the vibrations of living tissue by laser vibrometry

Internships

As with all programs at JUNIA, students will spend 40% of their studies in internships. These periods of professional immersion, carried out either in France or abroad, in a company or a laboratory, expose students to the reality of the professional world.

Examples of our students’ internships:

  • Design and prototyping of bio-sensors
  • Microelectronics industry
  • Organ-on-Chip modeling and design
  • Automation of an optical detector of enzymatic activity
  • Design of a radiofrequency filter for space applications

Careers

BioNanoTechnologies are the heart of innovation in the fields of health, energy, electronics, security, defense and environment. Students usually follow either (~50%) the path of cutting edge technology R&D in the industry (examples: Thales, Safran, Tesla, STMicroelectronics, Dassault). The other 50% continue their training in research by completing a PhD which takes place either in industry or academia.

Accreditations

A recognized diploma

The Bionanotechnologies Master Program prepares students to obtain the JUNIA ISEN engineering degree.

This degree awarded after 2 years of study is recognized by the State and accredited by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs (CTI).
The CTI label attests to the quality of teaching in certified engineering schools. It is also an important asset for professional integration abroad, as its system encourages international equivalence.

JUNIA is a non-profit association, with EESPIG certification. The EESPIG qualification distinguishes us from other private establishments, as an establishment recognized as being of general interest (participation in public service missions and disinterested management of our activities). In other words: the only profit sought is that of our students in their development within their training and the development of their professional project.
